Is Love Bliss, or is that Ignorance?

“Yo! (Your first name)!” You hear a voice call out to you. You whirl around as you see a wavy blonde haired boy – Enrique – waving at you.

“Hello Enrique,” You reply, your voice is cheery. At first glance you are seen as the shy type – you aren’t shy, you’re just not very outgoing. One thing that people quickly learn about you is that you have a temper. A big one. Enrique had learned this lesson the other day when he had upset you by – well let’s just say he didn’t flirt with you anymore. “Where are the others?” You ask him, referring to the rest of the Majestics.

You aren’t on their team and you don’t beyblade, but you are still good friends with them. In fact the reason you know them is because your best friend is on the team. Johnny McGregor. You’re both known for your tempers and disliking chess. Don’t get me wrong, unlike Johnny, your not half bad and have beaten Robert several times, but you find the game boring.

Right now you are standing in the middle of the town square in Rome, Italy. You are from Glasgow, Scotland, as you grew up there with Johnny, but moved when you were ten years old to Rome. As of now, at fourteen your English accent is still strong. Although you are from Scotland, you were originally born in London, England and moved to Scotland when you were five. You don’t consider England your home country though, for certain reasons unknown to the rest of your friends.

“They said they’d meet us at the Café on 104th street.” Enrique answers you grinning.

“This isn’t another attempt to get a date out of me is it? Or do you just want to get the girls off you back?” You grin at the thought – Enrique the flirt didn’t want girls following him around today. Ah, this was great blackmail!

“The second one. I’ve learned my lesson!” Enrique grins back as you run up to him and you both start walking.

“Nice to know.” You reply as you try to think of a fresh topic for conversation. “So what are we all going to do today? Is Robert showing up?” Robert wasn’t much for group outings, you other four did some really uncouth things, so sometimes he’d show up, sometimes he wouldn’t. It was nice that he let you all know before hand if he was coming or not though.

“I’m not really sure, (nickname or a shortened version of your first name), that’s what we told Robert and he said he’d rather not waste his time on a most likely uncouth idea. So, no, Robert isn’t showing.” Enrique answers you.

“Oh, poor Johnny won’t get a chance to get beaten at chess…” You trail off grinning like a Cheshire cat, and Enrique laughs, soon you are both standing in front of the Café otherwise known as The Stella D'argento [Silver Star] Café. You then spot the rest of your friends at a table – well minus Robert of course.

“Bonjour!” Oliver waves at you and Enrique. You can’t help but smile at him, Oliver has been your crush since you met him. He is the exact opposite of Johnny: patient, kind and graceful (as weird as that sounds it is true), not to mention his French accent is very cute!

Enrique gives you a weird stare and leads you to the table. As you all sit down you notice Johnny doesn’t look at all happy. “What’s wrong, lose at chess again?” You joke to him, obviously trying to brighten his spirits; unfortunately he doesn’t take the hint.

“No.” He answers sullenly.

“What then?” You ask him as you turn to Oliver. “Any idea what’s wrong with him?”

“Sorry, I don’t know.” He shakes his head, “He was fine before you two got here…”

“Right then.” You reply, let him be grumpy, I’ll figure out what’s wrong with him later – I know it’s got something to do with me. “So what are we planning on doing today anyways? You guys discuss it; I’m going to get a Chai Latte.” You inform them as you get up from the table and walk into the café (you guys are sitting on the front deck outside) and up to front counter.

“Good morning Miss, can I help you?” A balding man asks, he reminds you of Enrique’s butler.

“Yes, you can. May I please have a small Chai Latte [1], fat free?” You ask politely while smiling.

“Of course, that will be $3.47, Miss.” He answers as he fetches your latte.

“Here you are.” You reply handing him five dollars. “Keep the change.”

“Thank you Miss.” He replies as you grab your latte off the counter and walk out of the building and back onto the deck.

“Your back, that was quick.” Enrique’s voice greets you.

“Yeah there wasn’t a line up for once!” You answer happily.

“Hey (your first name),” Johnny’s voice sounds less cold than before you had left and it holds an apologetic tone to it as well.

“Well someone’s feeling better,” You smile. “So did you guys decide what we’re gonna do today?”

“Not really, we wanted your opinion.” Oliver replies.

“Oh, okay, hmm, what are my options?” You ask your friends grinning.

“Well, we could A) Visit Robert and annoy him. B) Go to Paris and do something there. Or C) Um…what was C)?” Enrique grins goofily at Oliver and Johnny.

You sigh, “Or C) we could stick around here and goof off!”

“You really want to? We do that everyday (your first name)!” Enrique complains. It was true, you did do that everyday, well not every day but a lot of the time…well which should you pick?

“Why don’t we vote on it?” You suggest. “I’ll vote for both A) and B) since Robert isn’t here.”
“We both know which one is going to win.” Johnny states. You knew he was going to vote for A) just to get Robert back for beating him at chess all the time.

“Alright never mind then, let’s go to Paris! I haven’t been there in awhile!” You say as you stand up and walk over to a garbage can to throw away your now empty Styrofoam cup.

When you get back everyone else stands up as Johnny throws you a ‘what the heck?’ look. He knew that you would rather bug Robert than go to Paris any day, what he didn’t know was that you liked Oliver and if he ever found out you’d never hear the end of the teasing.

“So, what exactly are we gonna do in Paris, (your first name)?” Johnny asks you.

“I want to visit the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre!” You exclaim excitedly. You loved being at the very top of the Eiffel Tower and looking down over the city. It was relaxing and it was even nicer if a breeze was blowing. You weren’t much for paintings, at least the ones that looked like the designs on your mother’s kitchen floor, but didn’t mind the ones that were of actual things. In fact those were the only ones you could appreciate; you didn’t understand how Oliver could look at any painting and understand it. Note to self: ask Oliver about that later today. Besides if you were going to go to Paris you couldn’t very well miss one of the main attractions now could you?

“Alright then, (your first name) liking art…does not compute!” Enrique comments.

“I don’t like all of it – only the ones that are of actual things…” You trail off.

“Well let’s get going.” Oliver jumps in as you all head towards – wait a minute how are we going to get there? You weren’t fond of public airlines to say the least.

“Um…guys? How are we going to get there? Please don’t say public airlines!” You plead as Johnny throws an arm around your shoulder.

“Public airlines, (your first name), public airlines.” Johnny snickers and you groan.

“Why does my best friend have to be so annoying? He’s going to drive me insane one of these days.” You question more to yourself than to anyone else but Johnny answers anyways.

“’Cause otherwise I wouldn’t be your best friend…come on, you of all people aren’t allowed to have a perfect life! Plus you’d go crazy with out me!” Johnny replies loftily.

“And why pray not? ‘Sides even with out you I wouldn’t have a perfect life though I wouldn’t go crazy either.” You ask as you look over to Oliver and Enrique on either side of you watching their expressions. Oliver has an unreadable expression on his face; he looked annoyed as well as happy. Enrique on the other hand looked as if he might burst out laughing at any point.

“What’d’ya mean? Come on, (your first name), we both know I’m the only one who keeps you sane.” Johnny shoots back. Yes, your and Johnny’s debates were one of the only things that kept everybody from getting too serious during practice sessions, which you attended only to annoy Robert and encourage the rest of your friends.

“It shall be so. Madness in great ones must not unwatched go!” Your English accent rings out in reply. So you liked to read Shakespeare, so what?

“Where’d you get that from?” Enrique asks.

“Don’t you people read Shakespeare? It’s from Hamlet!” You exclaim.

“No, not many people do.” Johnny grumbles, “What exactly did you say, dear (your first name) pray tell?” He mocks your voice tone in his last four words.

“You’re going insane and I’m the one keeping you sane!” You reply happily as you walk into the airport.

Oliver then turns to walk the way opposite of the ticket booth. “This way.”

“But Oliver aren’t we taking a plane? The ticket booth is that way.” You point out.

“Not this time (your first name),” Enrique answers.

“Huh?” You and Johnny say in unison making Enrique laugh.

Then right before you, you see a blimp. A second later it hits you. That’s right! Oliver owns a blimp! “Yes! Thank you!” You shout as you run up and hug Oliver. After a second you realize what you have just done. “Heh…sorry.” You apologize quickly breaking the embrace with your friend.

You can see Oliver’s cheeks are tinted pink, “Don’t worry about it.” He states shakily.

“(your first name), don’t I get one?” Enrique calls after you.

“Shut it!” Your automated reply comes on as him and Johnny come up to you. You blush once you realize what he has actually insinuated. Thankfully for you, Oliver has already boarded the blimp and you start up the stairs.

“(your first name), do you like Oliver?” Johnny blurts out as you, him and Enrique climb the steps.

“Yes, (your first name), do tell!” Enrique is all ears by the sounds of his comment.

Great, I’ll never hear the end of this on; best try and deny it.

“N-no!” You reply trying to hid your blush, unfortunately you’ve always sucked at doing that.

Johnny smirks at you, letting you know (for about the 50th time that year) that you suck at lying “Uh huh, sure.”

“Sooo, that’s why you wanted to go to Paris,” Enrique teases as you reach the top of the stairs.

“No, it bloody is not! Shut up!” You snap, Enrique has now done something no mortal should ever do – aroused your temper.

“Alright Oliver, I think you can start up the engine. Though you may want to make sure you have all the safety features on incase (your first name) blows up during the ride.” Johnny says as he turns around to smirk at you. You glare at him and walk to the very back of the plane, trying to remain calm. If I blow up now, I’ll make an idiot of myself in front of Oliver as well as be extremely embarrassed, as Oliver would probably want to know what everything was about. Plus it’d only fuel Johnny and Enrique’s teasing, you remind yourself as you pull a copy of Romeo and Juliet out of your miniature backpack you had brought along. You didn’t believe in purses. With that last thought you begin to read.

You are deeply absorbed in your book, when a hand is placed on your shoulder making you jump. “What?”
“I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to frighten you.” Oliver’s soft voice hits your ears.

“Oh don’t worry about it. What’s up?” You wonder.

“Well we’re almost there, but I was curious as to what you were reading.”

“Oh, Romeo and Juliet, you know the play by William Shakespeare?” You reply holding up your book. “It’s been put into novel format and I must say its pretty well done so far.”

“Yes I’ve heard of it. I haven’t seen much theatre though.”
“Hey what are Enrique and Johnny doing?” You change the subject.

Oliver smiles, “Playing chess.”

“I wasn’t aware Enrique knew how to play, I wonder who is winning!” You exclaim stuffing the book back into your backpack and standing up. “I have to see this!”
“Hi (your first name)!” Enrique exclaims while waiting for Johnny to make his move.

“Who’s winning? I didn’t know you played Enrique.” You comment.

“I learned recently from Rose.” Rose was a girl Enrique had been going out with on and off for the past month. You had met her once or twice and didn’t like her that much. She was a princess, a ditz and extremely possessive when it came to Enrique (he had to explain to her a few dozen times that you were just a friend – it was rather annoying). You didn’t see how someone like her could know how to play chess.

“Don’t make me laugh! That girl couldn’t tie her own shoes properly!” You remark as Johnny finishes his move and looks up.

“She really that bad, (your first name)? I haven’t met her yet.” Johnny seems to have forgotten about the ‘you and Oliver’ topic for awhile and you thank the powers that be for that.

“No she’s not! (Your first name)’s exaggerating big time!” Enrique defends Rose.

“I am not! I don’t know if you noticed or not, but that time I ran into the two of you in the mall, I couldn’t get within five feet of you with out her glaring at me! It was rather annoying, but hey, she’s your girlfriend and not my problem.” You shrug as you sit down beside Johnny and stare at the chess board. Johnny is winning, the weirdness of today is complete.

“We’re landing now, you guys should buckle up.” Oliver’s voice sounds.

“You heard him, (your first name).” Johnny grins at you and you roll your eyes, bloody prat.

“You’re a bloody prat, you know that?” You grin as you punch him in the shoulder and then move to another seat to buckle up.

The second you do the plane shifts and Oliver pulls into the airport for a landing. The blimp lands successfully to your relief and you all disembark down the stair case leading to the cement pavement.

Once all of you had reached the bottom, you turn to everyone, “So what are we going to do first?”
“Who’s we? I’m gonna go check out the French chicks.” Enrique answers you. Pervert.

“I am –” Johnny starts as Enrique grabs his arm.

“Coming with me! I know where you can challenge some decent beybladers!”

“Fine.” Johnny relents.

“Alright! See ya (your first name). Bye Oliver. Have fun.” Enrique winks at you and you blush a light pink color.

ENRIQUE I’M GOING TO KILL YOU! Your mind screams.

“So are you going to disappear too?” You question Oliver as soon as your blush has dispersed.

“No, unless you want me to.”

“That’s not what I meant, it’s just everyone else went off and I was curious if you wanted to go somewhere, because I don’t want to hold you back.” You rattle off an explanation having only the slightest clue of what you have just said.

“(your first name), I live here, remember? I can go wherever I want, whenever I want.” Oliver reminds you.

“Oh, right, sorry.” You reply, mentally kicking yourself for forgetting that.

“So where do you want to go?” Oliver asks you.

“Can we go to the top of the Eiffel Tower? That’s one of the main reasons I came here!” You say excitedly.

Oliver smiles softly, “Of course.”

“Come on then!” You grab his hand and start pulling him along the sidewalk until you realize you have no idea where you’re going. “Um…which way is it?” you ask flushing with embarrassment.

Oliver laughs, “The opposite direction we’re going, that’s for sure.”

“Oops…” You trail off laughing in spite of your brains idea to crawl under a rock and hide.

“Hey, what was your other reason?” Oliver asks as he starts to walk the right way and you walk beside him.

“What?” Oliver has now lost you completely.

“I mean earlier, you said going to the Eiffel Tower was one of your main reasons for coming here. What was the other? Out of curiosity.” Oliver asks.]

“Um…well…I, uh.” You trail on, “I’ll tell you when we get to the top of the tower, okay?” So I can jump off after…you think.

“Alright.” Oliver seems satisfied for the time being.

“My turn to ask a question.” You say smiling, “What were you thinking about on the way here, before we got into the blimp, you had a weird look on your face, almost as if you were in your own little world, but still listening to our conversation.” You trail off as you remember hugging Oliver and hold back your blush.

“Oh, well, I was thinking about this girl…” Oliver trails off as your heart sinks.

“Ooh, someone’s got a crush…” You grin teasingly, hiding all your hurt in the deepest corners of your mind. Oliver blushes as you continue, “So who is she? Is she pretty?”
“I think she is.” Oliver manages to get out.

“Ya know multiply the teasing I’m doing to you right now by ten and that’s how I feel when Johnny and Enrique decide to razz me!” You inform him with a fake smile on your face, you are trying to change the topic, and it was working so far. In your head your emotions are running wild, a quarter of you wants to cry, a quarter of you wants to scream and the other two quarters are begging you to remain calm and keep your composure. Of course you always listen to the majority, good thing too!

“Really? What do they bug you about?” Oliver sounds a bit surprised at your comment.

“Everything they can think of, course it’s a way of life for Johnny and I, we’ve bugged each other since we were kids.”

“How do you know when to stop? I know for a fact Johnny has a temper,” Oliver queries.

“I know him well enough and I can tell when he’s starting to get steamed and vise versa.” You answer him as you both reach the elevator.

As you enter it you realize that it is empty. “Top floor, (your first name)?” Oliver asks.

“You know it!” You reply.

“So what are we gonna do once we get up there – besides you keeping our agreement.” As soon as Oliver mentions the agreement, you turn to stare out the window in order to hide your blush.

“I dunno about you but I’m going to stand there and look down over the city. I love doing that as dumb as it sounds. I hope there’s a breeze today.” You respond still staring out the window of the elevator.

“I don’t think it’s dumb.” Oliver answers. The rest of the ride is awkward silence as you are both stuck for conversation topics and/or lost in your thoughts.

“We’re here, (your first name).” Oliver shakes you as you come back down to earth.

“Oh sorry, I spaced out a bit there.” You apologize to your friend.

“Don’t worry about it.” Oliver says as you both walk out of the elevator.

You then run over to the very front point of the tower and stare over the edge looking at the mini buildings and trucks as well as the ant-like pedestrians. A breeze blows in your face and feels like a soft blanket and you sigh. You had forgotten how awing Paris was from the top of the Eiffel Tower. You hadn’t been here in awhile. Maybe I should convince mom and dad to move here.

“(your first name), I take it you like it?” Oliver’s voice shatters your thoughts.

“It’s amazing; I had forgotten just how awing it was!” You breathe.

“It is beautiful.” Oliver agrees.

“So, this question’s been driving me nuts,” You start, “Who is this girl you like anyways?”
“No, you tell me what you said you’d tell me first, and then I’ll tell you…maybe.” Oliver smiles and shakes his head.

“Oh fine! But you have to promise to tell me!” Oliver’s eyes sparkle with amusement as you consent to the doom of your sanity. You had really hoped he would have forgotten about it by now!

“A- alright, I promise.” He stutters.

“My other reason for coming here, was, well…” You trail off trying to think of the perfect sentence. “Was well, you.”
“Me? I don’t understand.” Oliver replies and you smirk.

“Not my problem, I answered your question didn’t I? If you’re too naive to understand that then you need to hang around with Enrique more. Now answer my question!” Your expression turns to a solemn one as Oliver opens his mouth.

“She’s, well…” You roll your eyes.

“Please, don’t tell me you don’t know her name.”
“No, I do know her name.” Oliver answers.

“Then out with it.” You reply smirking. Though you may like Oliver it was entertaining to watch him squirm at having to answer a question. Most likely because he’s normally confident in himself and his abilities…though not overly confident like Johnny.

“You.” Oliver whispers and looks towards the ground.

“Really?” Is your first quiet answer, as the information takes a minute to adjust itself into your brain. Then it hits you. Oliver likes YOU! ME! YAY!

“Yes…” Oliver’s voice is barely a whisper now.

“I like you as well.” You whisper in his ear as a cool breeze ruffles through your (hair color) hair.

Oliver’s head rises as he looks into your (adjective describing your eyes) eyes. You stare into his eyes, which are sparkling with happiness at the moment. Without a second thought, you press your lips onto his in an innocent first kiss as you both break away when a voice shatters the moment.

“I’m happy for you and all, but can you save the PDA’s for times when we’re NOT around!” Enrique’s voice hits your ears as you turn around a bright shade of red.

You quickly regain your composure in time for a come back. “They wouldn’t be PDAs then would they?” You smile innocently.

“How much did you see?” It looks as though Oliver has finally found his voice.

“The whole thing, beyblading wasn’t very intense today so we decided to follow you guys.” Johnny explains giving you his trade mark grin.

“More like stalking!” You reply and turn to Oliver. “Excuse me a minute, I’ve got to go kill my best friend.” He nods grinning as Enrique walks over to him and you hear him start to talk.

“I was wondering when you were finally going to tell her. I found out she liked you right before we got on your blimp, but I didn’t have a chance to tell you, bud.” Enrique says to Oliver.

“You say a thing more, and you’ll be as dead as Johnny-boy over here!” You yell from the other side of the deck using the nickname you know Johnny most despises.

“She’s got good hearing.” Enrique remarks.

“No, you just talk too loud.” Oliver replies.

The End
